St. Georges Maintenance and Operations Yard

JMT Architecture completed the design of the new maintenance and operations yard in St. Georges, Delaware for the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT). Services provided included architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and site-civil engineering and design work. This new greenfield site houses newly constructed facilities in support of the maintenance crew,  administrative and operational functions, vehicle maintenance operations, and staging for road crew maintenance teams.  The facility design included system hardening and redundancy to support 24/7 critical needs operations of the yards.  A detailed architectural programming exercise was conducted to validate the required site and facility layout with various DelDOT departments and end users.

The maintenance and operations yard includes the following structures:

  • Fuel bay and storage
  • Crew quarters operations building
  • 7,100 SF maintenance building
  • 9,600 SF salt barn
  • 3,600 SF wash pad
  • Three 9,000 SF truck sheds
