Westside Men’s Homeless Shelter
Baltimore County

The Westside Men’s Homeless Shelter entailed the renovation of 8,400 SF and a 6,594 SF addition to create a 14,994 SF, one-story brick building featuring a 154-bed men’s shelter space, cafeteria and working kitchen, healthcare exam rooms, laundry, restrooms with showers, and large Resource Center.  The building has incorporated an outdoor garden area to supply the kitchen with local and fresh produce. It was also designed as part of a building-wide Green Cleaning Program with 30% of building materials regionally sourced.  The project received LEED® certification with 44% interior water use reduction, 21% energy cost savings, and 88% of construction waste diverted.
